Alum case study - Ayodele Elujoba

Image
Ayodele Elujoba Batch 20 Employer- The Consultants practice Role- Customer care representative How did you hear about WAVE? I saw the advert on facebook and I applied directly but was sceptical at first thinking it could be recruitment scammers. I did a search on ' Misan Rewane ' and was convinced after I saw her background and profile on LinkedIn so I decided to give it a try. I met with Samuel of Outreach team and he assisted me in applying. Tell us a bit of your experience at WAVE. My experience. It blew my mind. Having attended numerous self-development programmes, my thoughts were "I will while away time and in the end I am sure of a job at least" but it was massive. We learned how to think on our feet and the classes involved videos, print and one-on-one sessions with facilitators. I enjoyed every session because it helped me to ease off. Most memorable experience at WAVE The day of graduation when we met with On Air Personality of Inspiration Fm-Rufai Oseni, Co...

#Alumnicasestudies Temilola Ojo Batch 011 Employer- Le Reve Pieces Position- Retail Associate www.waveacademies.org Temilola heard about WAVE from a member of her church (C & S Movement Ayo Ni, Surulere), Mrs Funmi George. Before then she had just finished her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and was idle. The most challenging part of the programme was working in a team but through the training she  learned to work in a team. Temilola secured a job immediately after her job shadow (a one-week period when trainees are sent to employer-partners to put into practice all that they learned during the training).Temilola currently works with Le Reve Pieces, a jewellery and accessory store. Customer service/relations and effective communication are two important skills she applies on the job because these have helped her to be more outspoken and attentive to customers’ needs, “and with it, I have good patronage and referral from other customers.” Temi’s long-term goal is t...

#Alumnicasestudies Funmilola Ogunnoiki Batch 018 Employer- Matrix Limited Role-Secretary Funmi quit her former job because she wanted to further her education. After she did, it became a bit difficult to secure another one. She was a job seeker who became frustrated after applying for some jobs but received no response. She heard about WAVE from her sister who received a flyer during one of our outreach activities- town storming. She applied to the programme and was admitted after being screened. The most challenging part of the programme for Funmi was resuming early to avoid being expelled from the programme. "Waking up early was not easy at all. I had to wake earlier than I would normally get up, do my chores and dash down to the academy hoping that I was not late. The experience was fantastic, especially when we were asked to make bags with newspaper. It was something I had never done before but it was my  memorable experience. One thing that surprised me was the fact that I co...
