HOW TO BUILDING EMPLOYER-EMPLOYEE RELATIONS IN TODAY'S WORKPLACE

Image
Photocredit: Shutter-stock As every business owner will attest to, a company is only as good as its people. Every business’s ability to serve to its clients and customers hinges on its workforce. Not surprisingly, today’s evolving workplace is redefining organisational success, moving away from using such traditional metrics as financial performance and the quality of products or services to including an organisation’s relationship with a broader social ecosystem of customers, stakeholders, communities, and employees. This shift is moving more and more organisations to lean away from a conventional business model towards one of social enterprise, where companies invest in their ecosystem and leverage these relationships and their reputations to create sustainable revenue growth. Such organisations value people over process and tools and pay special attention to the changing nature of today’s workforce. The benefits of this approach can be seen in the increased productivity, strengthen...

My university degree could not get me a job- Andyson Uzor

Image
Determination was all I had, WAVE built upon it . “If you put your head down and polish your skills without prioritizing the benefits, your journey to success will be easy,” Anderson tells job seekers in his summary of how he has made it to where he is. The journey was not very smooth for Andyson when he began. In fact, his determination was just the fuel that kept him moving. Andyson began as a security officer and also as an admin officer in a clearing and forwarding agency, but he could not derive satisfaction from these jobs; his interest was in the hospitality industry. Andyson got to know about WAVE on Facebook while working as a security officer, but at that time, it would have been very difficult to sign up for the training because he had just gained admission into the university. However, after his university education, Andyson came to WAVE and began his training at Spencer, Alagomeji, Yaba. His dream to work in the hospitality industry was hindered because he lacked the indus...

I used to work as a Driver in a Pure Water company- Michael Ikudehimbu

Michael makes us understand that being a software engineer is no joke. His journey to being one has not begun yet but the little steps he is taking just before this journey may just set the ball rolling for him. The necessary funds to get himself trained as an engineer are not yet available but giving up is nowhere near his agenda. Having worked as a factory driver in a pure water company, a baker in a bakery, a bartender in a hotel and the project coordinator in a telecommunication company, Michael hungered for a different experience, he craved a different encounter, and he found just the place he needed, WAVE. A friend who got to know about WAVE through a flier, told Michael about WAVE's training and its programs and Michael developed an interest in it. He began training at the academy in Ajah. It was quite challenging for Michael because he had to wake up early each day of the training as it was expected of him to be punctual, being the chief whip of his batch. After the trainin...
