"Clearly there are not enough jobs to absorb the 40+ million unemployed young people in West Africa alone, but this does not mean we cannot start with filling positions that do exist. The young workplace entrants of today are the potential employers and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Africa Talks Jobs 2018

The Africa talks Job event is an annual conference that was first initiated in 2017. This year, the African Union Commission, with the help of other bodies such as   the New Partnership for Africa`s Development (NEPAD), B usiness Africa. It was also supported by the European Union (EU), the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Pan African University Programme (PAU), the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) and the Continental Africa Agriculture Programme (CAADP)came together   to discuss the ever-increasing number in Africa's workforce value and also to proffer solutions towards creating jobs and encouraging youth entrepreneurship across Africa.   More than 160 representatives of youth, business, investment, education, policy-making and civil society from all African regions as well as European partners convened at the conference, which held at Addis Ababa on the  30th to 31st October, 2018.   WAVE, represented by R...

WAVE meets the Creative Industry

On October 18, 2018, WAVE, with the support of the Ford Foundation, convened a roundtable of TV/Film Production and Media experts to discuss the skills gaps (read: opportunities) in the sector. We wanted to know what the biggest skills gaps were in the sector - in terms of depth (must acute/expensive gaps) as well as breadth (largest volume gaps). More specifically, we wanted to know where the hundreds of thousands of work opportunities (not jobs) would be generated in the creative industry and what would be required to scale the quality of training programs generating skills/talent for the sector.
